Exams

• Guitar and Bass - Examinations can be taken from debut to grade 8 through Rockschool. Grade 5 exams are equivalent to one GCSE, and Grade 8 is equivalent to an 'A' level.
• Drums - We offer vocal coaching to Rockschool and Associated Board standards. Exams are available at all levels.
• Piano and Keyboard - Classical and jazz exams can be taken through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music as well as Rockschool exams.
• Brass - Exams can be taken with Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. An exam entails a performance of 3 graded pieces, scales and arpeggios, sight-reading and aural.
• Woodwind - The exams taken are with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in both classical and jazz repertoire.
• Strings - Students can develop their musial ability by being entered for Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examination, which include scales, sight-reading, performance pieces and aural.
• Multimedia -
  • NCFE level 1 Music Technology - Gives students an opportunity to develop skills in recording, MIDI sequencing and perfoamce, and to produce their own music.
  • NCFE level 1 Podcasting - Offers the chance for students to learn how to create and produce their own podcasts while using the internet to research designs and content.
  • AQA unit awards - Available in: learning to play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, radio skils, rap vocals, and producing a music CD.
  • ASDAN Awards - Discover new skills and build a portfolio by completing a number of exciting challenges.
• Learning Centre - We offer a range of accredited courses including AQA, NCFE and the Local Award, in addition to ASDAN 'U' Choose awards. The awards are flexible, allowing students to work in areas of individual interest, for example cooking, health and beauty, art and swimming.
